Consilium Staffing Dedicated to Meeting Escalating Need for Behavioral Health Providers

Irving, Texas – May 16, 2014 – Consilium Staffing, Your Partner in Locum Tenens, is increasing the size of their behavioral health team to meet the rapidly growing needs of mental health facilities across the country.

Representatives from the firm’s Behavioral Health team recently exhibited at the American Psychiatric Association’s 167th annual meeting in New York City. More than thirty-five thousand psychiatrists belong to the organization, many of whom attended the event, which featured an address from Vice President Joe Biden focusing on the country’s current agenda to raise awareness and resources for the mental health sector.

Last December, the U.S. government allocated an additional $100 million to improve and expand community health centers and mental health facilities in rural America. Therefore, as access to treatment for these conditions is expanded, so is the need for a larger staff of mental health providers to meet patient demand, including psychiatrists, psychologists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Many healthcare organizations are already beginning to meet this need with locum tenens physicians.

“We plan for our behavioral health team to double in size by the end of this year,” says Amy Gentile, Vice President. “Some facilities will meet their psychiatric staff requirements through locum tenens in order to avoid a loss of funding.”

Historically, medical insurance providers have failed to cover many mental health services in the same way they covered physical ailments. However, they are also now being called upon to recognize and support the treatment of such illnesses as depression, addiction, autism, and post-traumatic stress disorder, just to name a few. These conditions affect millions of Americans of all ages, including our men and women in uniform returning home after their active military service has ended.

Consilium Staffing Supports Children’s Medical Center’s Red Balloon Run & Ride

Employees of Irving, Texas based Consilium Staffing, Your Partner in Locum Tenens, recently participated in Children’s Medical Center’s annual Red Balloon Run and Ride, raising more than $1,100 for one of the nation’s leading pediatric facilities.

The event is a fundraising program produced by Passion for Children’s for the exclusive benefit of Children’s Medical Center, and included various run and bike distance options for participants at their Legacy Campus in Plano, Texas. With the help of 3,158 donations, Children’s raised more than $570,000 for the center, and more than 4,900 people participated in this year’s event.

“We are very proud to take part in such a fantastic event and give back to a pediatric facility that has done so much for children in our community,” says Matt Baade, Executive Vice President of Consilium Staffing.

This was the second time for Consilium to participate in the Red Balloon Run & Ride, and is the latest event for the Consilium Cares program, the philanthropic arm of Consilium Staffing. Consilium Cares has supported many events and organizations, including The North Texas Food Bank, Mission Arlington, and Children’s Medical Center, among others.

“We believe we are here to serve. We are here to serve our providers and healthcare facility clients, but we are also here to serve our community,” said Baade. “Consilium Cares is an important part of who we are.”

Passion for Children’s, a 501c(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 2007 with the sole purpose of creating, implementing, and supporting grassroots fundraising programs to exclusively benefit Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.

Children’s Medical Center is private, not-for-profit, and is the fifth-largest pediatric healthcare provider in the nation. Children’s is the only academic health care facility in North Texas dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of children from birth to age 18, and is the only pediatric level one trauma center in the Southwest. Children’s Medical Center serves over 570,000 children each year with more than 70 specialty programs.
